i have a vespa et4 every now and then as i am riding along i hear a tinkling noise it seems to be coming from kickstart ( which also seems to have to compression.
thanks but i found out it is starter button sticking and when appling brake it was trying to start

check the end of the variator is tight as they do come off and rub on a steel cover inside the transmission cover and make a noise like that ok you will be able to see if its rubbing easily you will have to remove the lh cover first of course
