Alfred, The cutter edge should be drawing toward you when you hold the saw in cutting position. Make sure the tension is adjusted on the chain before you tighten the sprocket cover. You will find the adjusting screw where the bar attaches to the saw. When you put the cover on tighten the nuts lightly so the bar will still move forward to tighten the chain. You can test the tension by pulling up on the chain on the bar. You should be able to pull it up out of the slot to about 3/4 of the depth of the chain guide. Now tighten the nuts to secure the blade and chain tension. They should be fairly tight and your saw should have a special wrench for this. Make sure your saw has chain oil in it and I assume your saw has an automatic oiler. Continue to check your chain tension while using it. For safety reasons you should always put the chain brake on when the saw is idling. Sometimes when the chain is loose the saw chain will continue to revolve when idling. This is an indication that the chain tension needs to be adjusted again. Also the chain will stretch with usage. For smooth effective cutting your chain must be sharp. If you can't sharpen it yourself you should take it to service depot.
Hope this helps.
