Mend Whirlpool ADP7966 Dishwasher Temperature Flashing

How can I fix my Dishwasher, Whirlpool, ADP7966?

When turning the dishwasher dial, the only temperature setting that will illuminate is the normal 40-55 degrees Centigrade option. At the same time the start button continuously flashes. When pressing the start the dishwasher sounds as if it is beginning a cycle and shortly after stops again
