Mend N Light Wont Stay

Heat N Glo fireplace ... pilot light won't stay on?

We have a HNG fireplace and the pilot light went out. We can relight it as long as we're holding in the gas button. As soon as we let it go, it goes out, even after holding it for 5 mins. Can we fix this ourselves>
