It is possible to remove keys and clean up any mess underneath - I do it on this machine quite regularly.
My eyes are weak so I use an eye glass. Also need tweezers and an old soft toothbrush and a SMALL amount of cleaning fluid - little dish of soapy water to dip the brush in.
Getting the keys back on can be a bit fiddly. As you prise the first one off take time to carefully examine the pieces below the key cap. Under my keys are two plastic pieces that clip/hinge together and join with the key cap.
Once cleaned and the little pieces of plastic are back together properly I just press the key firmly back into its hole.
