Mend Hyundai HV20 Cover Plate Properly

Tensioning the chain? HV 20"?

After removing the cover plate and realigning the chain I cannot get the chain to tension properly, the handbook says hold the blade up. Have done this so many times I have lost count, the grub screw tensioner does not help. I am sure there is a simple machanic knack to this, would anyone like to share?

back off the tensioner screw until cover fit's, leave cover nuts lose, screw in tensioner screw until you can pick up the chain (in the middle of bar at the top) about 5mm 1/4 in, then lock up nuts.
