Mend Citroen Saxo Temperature Heater Problem

temp light keeps coming on?

how do we solve this problem, yesterday the temp light in my r reg citreon saxo came on and since then the car heaters only blow cold air. Have checked the water and that looks ok? The temperature light comes on after about 5 mins of driving even though the water doesnt seem hot?
Any ideas?
