how to operate?

I got a dishwasher from a friend,but it has no manual. It is hotpoint aquarius, how does it operate? I never used a dishwasher before. I know I have to put salt,but don't know where to put it. I think washing liquid goes in a compartment in the door,however there are 2 of them. I assume the smaller is for pre wash? Thanks
