Mend Blaupunkt Enter Code Turn

How do I enter the code for Blaupunkt 2003 radio?

I have my code but don't know how to enter it! I am trying the following:

Switch off radio
turn ignition on
hold as button down
switch radio on
release as button
enter code and press as button

I get as far as switch radio on but nothing happens, the display just shows the date/time and temperature as normal. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help, I have tried again a few times and despite holding AS down (for ages!) when turning the radio on nothing is happening, guess I better bite the bullet and take it to Vauxhall.

1 HOLD as button
2 Turn on ignition but keep AS held until you hear beep which can take a few seconds.
