ford transit van,n reg,2.5 desil?

i drove over a tree branch that was in the road,it jamed my alternator belt,and my van wouldnt start,i have unjamed the branch,that was jamming my engine,and my van still wont start,does anyone know wont could be wrong and how to fix it,could i have knocked the timing out,how do i set the timing thank you
