I have a westwood Gemini rotovator which will star but will not run for more than a miniute or so. The plug is clean the compression is good, and there is fuel to the carb. Any sugestions please.

its the air breather on the fuel cap thats blocked

Does it rattle when it runs?
If the engine is stiff to turn over but starts it could be the big end bearing that's going and it seizes up when the engine's warm.
These things need frequent oil changes.

In order of probability ;-
1) Clean air filter.
2) Check for water in tank/carb.
3) Suspect coil.
