Mend Thermostat Turn Turned

How can I remove the cap to a thermostat radiator valve?

My radiator will not turn on, so I think the themostat on the valve is stuck. I cannot work out how to remove the cap to the themostat valve. I've turned it and pulled at it, but no use. Is there a trick to this?
