how do i get my dvd player to play my dvd's?

my philips dvd player plays cd's but dont want to play my dvd's. how i fix it?

We have the same problem. It will play both Commercially made CD's and those we create off of our computer, but it has stopped playing Movie DVD's. Reads: Disk Error. We can take the same DVD and put it in our other DVD player and it plays just fine. We have cleaned the unit, but that made no appreciable difference.

i'm having the EXACT same problem! i called philips and they said they can't offer me any help because my warranty is out... which is insane because i just got the stupid unit. PLEASE let me know if you were able to fix it somehow. THANKS!!!
