I agree with the trust thing, as far as banking info, noone should need more than your creditcard number and verification code.

There are some things that may help, install McAfee SiteAdvisor http://www.siteadvisor.com/ (Internet Explorer and/or Firefox) and they will have tested the site.

also, in Firefox, when you are on an encrypted page, you can click on the icon just next to the address in the address field, and it will give you the Verification information (verified by VeriSign or some other verifier)

No. If you don't trust the company, don't do business with them. Second, ask yourself why on earth they would need your bank details?
