Lid removal of a Service 1400 AA washing machine. ?

I need to check the electrical connections inside the machine, as although there is power going in, nothing responds.
I cannot remove the lid from the machine.
I have removed the 2 securing screws from the back just underneath the lid. The lid will only lift/tilt about 30mm and I am worried I might break the plastic top if I force it higher. It feels as if it's also secured in the front. I have pulled the control knob off to see if there are any screws but there's none. There are 4 screws inside the soap tray but they don't look as if they are holding the lid in. Does the front, where the controls are need to be removed as part of the lid.
The machine is about a year old.
