I replaced the timing chain on my Nissan Almera last year. It cost me £500. Now I've got the same problem again! Nissan quoated me £1700. The car is not worth that much.
My advice to you, don't bother replacing the timing chain just get rid off the Nissan Almera because you'll be dealing with exactly the same problem few months later. Only the cost will be much higher.

Did you fix your timing chain problem?
Like you, I ignored mine for a bit but now it takes me nearly an hour to start it.
Nissan quoted me £1000, a garage in Leceister quoted me £620.
Some people suggested there's no guarantee the problem will go away.

Give Nissan customer services a call on:
01923 899999.
The more people report the Timing Chain defect to Nissan, the more likely they'll issue a recall.

Was quoted £1300 by dealer - so have held off replacing. Found that as long as I run the car a few minutes before setting off - minimizes problem.
