Glow-worm Ultimate boiler..Does the pilot light always stay on?

We have intermittant heating of radiators. On inspection of the boiler there doesn't appear to be a pilot light on when the heating is not needed. Unfortunatley, I do not have the instruction manual to explain if this is normal or not. On reading the basic instructions on the boiler there seems no instructions to indicate how to relight the pilot light if necessary. Any help much appreciated
