Mend Gigabeat S30 25 Years Model

What is wrong with my Gigabeat MP3 player? ?

My player is about 2.5 years old, 30 Gb s30 model. It is now turning itself off fairly regularly. When I restart it (not with the off button, but a full restart), it will play precisely a single track and then when the track finishes, the Gigabeat does nothing else - it does not play the next track (in either shuffle or nonshuffle mode)
