When you part it, the top part is a filter.Just brush it.Hopefully when you do part it pay attention to the filter and hopefully it will be linted up.You must be careful though as both ends have a rope gasket which may get broken. You will have to fire cement the ends to stop flames coming out of gaps that you have made, but its easy enough.

i spent hours cleaning the flue ways last week Tony hoovered it out etc etc..So i am also thinking now that the burner needs cleaning out... So just remove the 6 screws retaing it?

What should i clean it with?

The main reason for the soot will be the burner. It is like lighting a match under a pan.The yellow flame causes it to black up.If as i suspect the burner is really yellow then this will be the cause, but you need to be 100% certain that you have got all the soot from the flueways otherwise all your hard work will be for nothing. The burner just lifts out but make sure the boiler clock is off or the pilot is off if you take it out as ive known people knock the stat on and nearly blow their head off.

Cheers Tony. No not on another thread. I have cleaned it out with a hacksaw blade already today being the second time i have had to do it in a week.
Once done it works fine. i have even hoovered all around to get any blackstuff up thinking it might block the jets.
There was ALOT of black stuff came out the first time i cleaned it and i was very surprised to see so much after only a week!
Cheers

So the wall outside is black.Still the same scenario. The flueways are clogged and the burner will be burning yellowy. If you have a large 12" hacksaw blade use this to push down the flueways if you dont have a small fluebrush. You may have to wash the burner out.Is it a pressed steel burner or cast. The cast one can be parted by taking out the six retaining nuts and bolts but the seal on either end may break. You will need to fire cement the ends back up to remake the seal if you do that.Make sure you fit the hood back on correctly and of course the case.We have discussed this on another thread

You havent either cleaned the flueways properly or the filter inside the burner is linted up with fluff. The Spacesaver is one of the best to service but you need a fluebrush that goes from top to bottom.I take it that the flue type is conventional(chimney)rather than balanced flue(thro wall)
