Problem with tefal program 8 500?

I did manage to get it open, but was unable to get deeper inside to look at the auto-stop device, which seems to be on all the time and stops the iron heating up. It's a real pain, as the iron was brilliant in every other respect. Think I'll have to junk it and get a new one.

Talk about planned obsolescence, they are dropping like flies, our tefal program 8 500 died today 18th January 2009. It is less than two years old, only saw light use in a three-person household.

Was able to loosen two torx 20 screws but a third one seems to require a 'tamperproof' torx 20 screwdriver with a hole in the middle. May have to leave it to costly professional repair.
