Intermitent starter poblem ford mondeo?

Intermittent starting problem.
Sometimes the car will not start. I turn the key all the way and all lights come on as normal but there seems to be no activity. The starter motor nor the engine does not turn over. I do not get a clicking noise which would indicate that the starter motor is faulty.
A few minutes later the car will start. On a long run (50 miles) when I switch off the engine and try to start it again it refuses. After a few minutes it will then start as normal.
I believe it is an electrical fault rather then a mechanical one.

battery fully charged and alt chargeing battery but after a journey if left 4 a few hours when i go to start its like a flat battery...any ideas ...thank you

Hi Guys,
I have a very similar experience with you. I have a 2.0 Diesel ford mondeo 2003 and its the starter. Mine was just changed two weeks ago of similar problem.

Hi,
Have you had any joy? We have a similar intermittent problem. The car will not turn over when the key is turned and this may happen 2 to 5 times then the car will turn over and start straight away. I was thinking it could be a stater motor problem but a Ford guy in the shop said it could be the leads going form the battery to the starter motor which have become corroded or could be faulty. Very confusing!

Hi,

It seems I have the same problem. After long journeys the car will refuse to start, and the engine will not turn over. Then after usually 30min it will start up without any problems. Mine is a 2000 petrol Mk2 Mondeo 1.8 LX.

Any ideas anyone?
