Tevion 42" HD LCD TV ITV1&3 CH 4/4+1 reception problems?

After numerous calls to Medion/Tevion helpline answered by people from all over the globe with hard-to-understand accents and SIX TVs later all of which had EXACTLY the same problems (this is probably because ALL replacements were and will be for all you prospective buyers "re-furbished" models because after 30 days you are only allowed a repair or refurbed replacement which means you get someone else's cast off which could be years old) we now have an Acoustic Solutions model from Argos which works perfectly and was cheaper albeit without any wall mounting brackets which Tevion's were a really bad design any way and the "3 yr warranty" which I think is not such a great deal unless you can get an unopened and unused replacement from the shop. All the replacements we had must have had the same problem which could not be repaired by the "after sales specialists" so were just going from one to another until someone gave up and accepted second best. After all the grief we've had I shall definitely think thrice before buying similar equipment from ALDI again!

we have got 1 of them tvs and we are not having any trouble with them channels at all and all the rest are ok. we think its a good tv

Hi T Thanx for your help. We have an ONN Digital Freeview recorder & all channels when played through this are ok so I suppose it IS the TV that's at fault it just seems odd that it is only on the ITV & 4 channels we have the problems with. I am now just annoyed that we were sold an aerial we obviously did not need

It certainly sounds like an aerial problem. If you are in a weak reception area the 'professional' installer should have known that and suggested a mast head amplifier. He/she should also have chosen the correct aerial for your geography. That is to say some areas require a special 'wide band' aerial for Freeview.

To see how good a Freeview signal you are likely to get try www.freeview.co.uk/availability

I suggest that you borrow a Freeview Set Top box. (Or even buy one because you will be able to use it to 'convert' an old TV and they are so cheap these days.)
Use the set top box to see if you have the same (or similar) problem. If so it is the aerial, if not it is the TV and so you will need to take it back to Aldi for a refund.
