Kelvinator impression series 500, freezer cold fridge not?

I don't have the manual for my impression fridge. I just cleaned it, and the freezer cooled down but the fridge didn't. I'm always a bit confused by the 'warmer/cooler' settings because I don't know which way they work eg in warmer weather set it to warmer to cool the fridge more, or warmer actually makes the cavity warmer. Anyhow, neither setting worked until I twiddled the freezer control. I found I had to turn it right round to cooler and then back to mid again before the freezer fan came on which I think affects the temperature in the fridge cavity by circulating cold air from the freezer. Sounds as though both the fan and the compressor are going now so fingers crossed it will cool down. No idea if that would be your problem, but worth a try? [My fridge/freezer has never had this problem when switched off before]
