I did a repair for mate in Dec the center pin broke off, you have strip the laptop carefully to get the motherboard. Ebay sell the power jack for about a fiver.
Then it case of desoldering the old one out and soldering the new one in. The sevice manual for taking it a part on hp site. However you need soldering experience.
