Creda Concept 48135: Does the oven fan spindle need accurate centrering?

I have a Creda Concept Solar Plus Model No. 48135. Does the oven fan spindle need accurate centrering? I refitted the fan after cleaning 20 years of dirt build-up from the motor's cooling fan cover. The spindle seems to chafe on the aperture through which the spindle enters the oven chamber. I think that the spindle is chattering on that aperture. Are my assumptions correct?
