ideal standard dual flush toilet problem?

Well, I followed the advice given here to get the top of the cistern off, removing the two flush buttons in turn, then unscrewing the white plastic screw to get the cistern lid off.
NOW how the H**** do I put it together again?????
Obviously(?) the first step is to replace the cistern lid, then locate and re-fasten the white plastic screw. But as far as I can see, after many attempts to line the screw and it's destination up, that's not the (whole) problem (although that IS going to be difficult!) - something appears to have moved, although I can't see what, and the screw no longer apears to reach the threaded bit!!!! OK, I'm an idiot, but what on earth have I done, and what do I need to do to fix it?

Floatation device fix works for me! I thought it turned but didn't want to force it until I confirmed it which you did.

Thank you - and on my birthday as well - what more could a man want :-)

Sadly I'm in the same position but I can help on the float adjustment. The flotation bit itself ( we remember as the ball) will rotate and then the plastic lugs disengage and the float can be adjusted and then when the right height, twist/rotate back the flotation "ball". Did the overflowing get fixed?

did you solve this? I've got the same problem.

ok, a bit of a self-answer.

The part the screw locates into can be slide up and down when two side-fasteners are released. I must have accidentally depressed it when removing the cover. Now i have adjusted it back up, I can get the screww to loacte and tighten.

Now all I need to know is, how to stop the overflow problem I started with!!!!!

It's not constant, but with every flush, the tank re-fills, then overflows for about 30 secs, then stops.

Any help with this original problem welcomed - there is an apparent adjustment on the float, but I can't get it to move (cheap plastic bits, again!!!!!)
