Ford Transit Hot Dash?

Hi Guys, I have an Autosleeper Campavan Excelsior on a Ford Transit chasis, October 2000, and the dash gets quite hot when using the heater. Is this normal? It melted me chocolate in the passenger dash pocket. Cheers
