Mend Ford Verona Mondeo Battery Problem

mondeo battery problem?

Hope someone can help. i was in the middle of replacing my battery on my mondeo verona but when tightening the negative connection ,the little eyelet thats on the end of a wire and goes over the bolt you tighten broke does anyone know what this does.

they are all earthing cables and will need fittng as problems will start to occure for a temp repair strip the cable outer covering and fit the bare wire between the battery post and the clamp.
