My 1999 ML 320 MERCEDES KEY FOB WONT WORK?

I HAVE A 1999 MERCEDES ML 320.THE KEY FOB BATTERY WAS DEAD SO I CHANGED THE BATTERY NOW IT WONT UNLOCK OR LOCK. DOES IT HAVE A CODE OR PROCESS TO RECONFIG ?

Try this,

Key in ignition turn to position 2
Turn to position 0 and remove key.
Within 1 minute,
Press and hold lock button,
Press unlock 5 times in succession
System should now work, if not, repeat sequence.
