how to change ford KA alternator 03?

Right stupid Stuart here is the correct way the mounting case that stops you getting the alternator off is the way 3 bolts to take it out and then it drops out unreal how people think and believe they need to take out the mountings of engine or jack the engine up all the above is correct front bumper front driver light and all the other bolts then just drop the 3 bolts on the casing tht the oltrnator sits on jobs a good un

Just done this on a 1.3 1999 Ka , and what a pain in the AS* of a job to do. Takes 10 mins just to undo the main power steering pipe !! talk about a car that is so not mechanic friendly !! Bring back the fiesta same year alternator in 15 mins a KA more like 5>6 hours specially if you have one like the one i did with torx drive bolts t40 which some animal before had decided to adapt into allan bolts !!

if your for ka is fitted with air con you'll find all the above correct, except the alternator is held in by 3 13mm long bolt and trapped between air con and power pump, raise engine off mounting to allow alternator to slide out

kinda tricky this one,you have to dismantle quite a bit to get into the alternator on a ka
remove the plastic inner wing on the drivers side
remove the outer wheelarch / bumper from the front, some times find you are just aswell taking the whole bumper right off, out the way.
remove the drivers side headlight..3, 8mm bolts.
remove the fan belt, turn the bolt on the belt tentioner clock wise to release.
disconect the battery
remove 4 bolts that hold on the a/c pump, dont disconect the pipes.
now you can get to the 4 torx bolts that hold on the alternator, remove these, let the alternator drop down a bit then remove the wires from the back i 10mm nut 2x 8mm nuts
fit new alternator dont fit a second hand one unless you know its a good one

Undo the existing alternator and refit in reverse procedure the new alternator
