Mend Black & Decker Brushes Armature Power

How can I clean brushes on a 240v Black & Decker drill?

The drill works intermittently. I sprayed the armature with carb cleaner, waited for it to evaporate, and it worked okay for an hour. So it's the brushes, but it's not so clear how to get the armature out of the motor. Otherwise it's a good drill, vari speed and reverse and hammer. 20+ years old now.

You cannot clean brushes, but if you can get to them you should replace them. New brushes are inexpensive. What model and type of drill are you using?
