How to stop my Ford Mondeo MK2 Alarm going off?

In the boot on the passenger side, if you peel the felt away you should find the alarm horn which is separate to the main horn, I've disconnected mine for the mo, although the lights flash when the alarm goes off there's no noise for the neighbours. Then I used WD40 on the bonnet catch which worked for a few weeks and now had to resort to bridging the bonnet catch wires, so the car thinks the bonnet is constantly closed along with the rest of the car. The switch that most people are unplugging is the cause of the issue. Replacing it fixes the problem (you can verify this by pressing on the bonnet when its closed - the switch corrodes and when the car is cooling down it then doesn't contact correctly all the time).

Unplugging the the two brown wires beside the windshield washer filler works no more waking up the neighbours.

well I have a 2001 mondeo and its alarm and hazards has started to go off for no reason so instead of double locking the car I just press lock once and it has stopped so I will get it looked at soon maybe try a new battery in the key

I had the problem and what worked for me was ensuring the handles of the front doors are fully down. Spray under the handles to ensure they go fully down after closing the door.

Heres a couple of tips for you if your car alarm keeps going off for no apparent reason.
1) put some good quality ear plugs in and you won't hear the neighbours banging on your door.

mk2 mondeo.open bonnet next to your windscreen fluid theres a plug with 2 thin dark wires coming out unplug it . your doors will still lock indicaters will not flash when you double lock but should stop the alarm going off till you can get it fixed. X reg mondeo 2000 should work on older models good luck.

I have same problem with 1998 si mondeo, keeps going of, have to leave car unlocked all the time, any ideas. Any one know how I disable it completely.

After all the rain we've been having recently my 1999 Mondeo Mk2 4-door saloon has been filling up with rain water on each corner of the boot lid gutter nearest to the rear window and the rain water wells up here. This in turn has got into the boot on the nearside causing my alarm to go off intermittently whenever it rains. As yet no cure but I have had to disconnect the wire attached to the alarm as a temporary measure so it doesn't disturb the neighbours at night. My drive has a bit of a slope which causes the water to collect when parked with the rear end up the slope.

ive a mondeo mk 2 1999, i had the same problem when i locked the door maybe a hour goes by the alarm goes off and thats when its on my drive. i only have one remote key i put a new battery in and it doesnt work now and the alarm doesnt either. do you need to code them in or what. if anybody out there knows the code then please let me know. sorry i cant help i need help myself. steve

It could be the alarm siren itself..thankfully this is quite cheap and easy......It contains an ECU ...Hope that helps you all....

I've noticed since my Alarm has been playing up the my remote central locking has been also playing up. Sometimes when the alarm go's off the key won't unlock the doors but when I take the batteries out and put them back in it works again. Could the alarm be going off because the batteries in my key are going dead?

Anyone else get the same thing?
