Mend Ford Escort Noise Engine Car

1994 Ford Escort, squeaking noise from engine?

There is a constant "squeaking" coming from the engine while the car is idling, and now I have noticed while driving, only seems to stop when giving it some revs. Not a "screeching" like a slipping fan belt, i've got a feeling this is something different, though I suppose I could be wrong.
