i have a hotpoint ultima wf840p washer. It has suddenly started to display TEST on the digital screen and will not function. Does this mean I need an engineer or is it something simple.

Allow the test cycle to finish, then press "on/off" button and "start/cancel" button simultaneously until the display reads "doff". The system should then work normally.

I'm not sure about this, but I would look for a tech sheet that gives you test precedures for your washer. It may be in an envelope inside the control panel.
