E40/E41 error code on Zanussi IZ16s NOT door solenoid?

Hey, I wondered if someone could point me in the right direction. I've done some searching on the forums to find a solution to no avail.

The problem: Try to start program, door solenoid "clunks" 2-3 times then beeps with E40 error code.

Subsequent diagnostic checks (turn machine off, hold start/pause button and reset button down together, turn machine on. Then press Fabric button once or twice) Narrow the E40 to an E41 fault code.

I've had a serviceforce rep in to look at the door solenoid which has been replaced but the code still remains. and I'm fairly certain the solenoid is working ok.

I have reseated all the connectors to the pcb with no joy. There is one connector with about 3 wires Brown/purple/white "dangling" with no obvious purpose or place to put it - I think it may be redundant in my model but is there due to the use of "common components" between machine designs.

I suspect I have a dodgy PCB but could I have missed anything else? I'm confident I can replace the PCB myself and use the configuration guides from the internet to program it to be model specific, but at ÂŁ130 I'm not sure I want to take this route if it isnt the answer.

Hopefully someone can provide some guidance...

Many thanks in anticipation.

Many thanks. It seems strange that the door solenoid is working yet the main PCB has blown (appears to at least, after replacing with a new item and fault still remained - could possibly have a dodgy spart part!).

Is this a common fault? What is happening here, is the pcb effectively using itself as a fuse? If it is common, is there anything I can do to prevent from happening again?

take the pcb out of the white plastic casing and you will find blown tracks or triac that drives the door interlock.unless you can find a donor board and replace blown components a replacement is all thats left.
