The LCD screen for my hotpoint WD860 has gone really faint?

I have bought 2 from EMW Electronics, they last about 18mths, they cost me £75 each but they give you a tenner back when you send your old board back to them to be reconditioned. It's cheaper to buy a new machine, I think this may be a common fault as there are loads of questions on here fro the same thing!

I have a similar problem as the backlight is faint and flickering, but the display is built onto the circuit board so it has to be replaced as well and that is about £89
