Mend Dirt Devil Vacuum Upright Belt

Dirt Devil Vacuum smells like smoke?

My dirt devil upright vacuum smells of smoke when I use it. I checked the belt, but it is fine. Today when I was using it smoke actually came out of vacuum. It also seems more difficult to push. I am not sure what the problem is. Please advise. Thank you for your help.

I've had the same problem what i've done was turn the carpet level to a higher level so it could move more easily. This stopped the burning smell , but also check filter to see if its clogged.
