boiler will not light?

changed gas supplier today when gas came back on boiler will not light been ok all day i have checked gas fire and cooker so i know the gas is on pressed reset button on boiler but still will not light the boiler is there a way of lighting pilot with out reset button as i do not want to pay call out charge for somthing simple.

Sounds like you need to replace the thermocouple - they have a limited life but usually aren't expensive or difficult to fit. User instructions for your boiler may give advice.

Thermocouple is a safety device which shuts off gas supply for a minute or two until boiler has cooled down enough for supply to be restored safely but it's fail-safe so your pilot won't get any gas if it breaks down.
