megan scenic heater fan?

I have an 04 scenic with 45000 miles on it and the heater has stopped working on it also, I was told by an auto electrician that this is a common fault with these cars and that he has repaired quite a few of them and that the whole dashboard has to be removed. Renault charge around about £400.00 to fix the problem which is generally the heater motor resistor and the spur off the wiring loom to the heater which overheats and melts. I was in the Renault dealership enquiring about this and another matter and they assured me that there was no recall issue for this fault even though they probably know the frequency that this occurs as they are the ones selling the replacement parts to fix the problem
