i have a vauxhall zafira 2.0 diesel and my heater is blowing only cold air ?

the heater is blowing only cold air and there is a chattering noise coming from a little motor at the back of the centre console under the dash. if i turn my hot and cold switch right to the bottom it stops the chattering??????? any ideas what the part is i will need and how to fix it. thanx.

try replacing the pollen filter £10aprox, which is located behind the glove box to the right. i had a similar problem

it is possible to clear blocked heater matrix's with a tight fitting hose pipe, I wouldnt use a pressure washer...

I have seen heater matrix's almost completely blocked by sediment and rust on cars about 8 yrs old. This stopped heat being transfered effectively and you only got cold air.

the rattling could be a leaf or something trapped in the air system.

there is a electronic valve which bypasses the hot water from the engine which heats up the car to allow only cold air when cold is selected this failed on my car i replaced it with a modified vauxhall part which removes this valve
