Mend Hotpoint Aquarius 1200

Fixing motor for Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 WD62?

HI I have a Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 (WD62) Washer/drier. Had a problem with the motor adjust bracket breaking. I got a new one, installed it, and it's just broken again. I notice on closer inspection of the motor that there are TWO bolts underneath that allow the boiler to rotate into position. Previously I had only noticed the one bolt. Could it be the fact the other is missing that caused the motor adjust bracket to break again so soon? The second bolt underneath the motor seems to be missing entirely. COuld it have sheared off? There appears to be no missing nut either and no way of attaching/tightening the nut/bolt. Can you help? Does anyone have a diagram of how it should look? Cheers. DJ

My bracket also broke due to one of the bolts working loose from the rear motor mounting allowing the motor to twist slightly and eventually snap the bracket because of the stress on it.

I first replaced the missing bolt then after looking at the bracket and its obvious flimsiness I decided to fabricate a new bracket which took basic metalworking skills. Using the old bracket as a template I marked it out on a 3mm thick piece of steel and cut it out, next I drilled the hole in one end of the bracket and made the slotted part by drilling several holes then used a hacksaw blade to remove most of the waste and finally dressed the whole piece with a file.

I guarantee the motor will tear itself of its mounting before the bracket breaks again.

Looking at images of 1200 fhp motors (google it) there appears to be a screw pictured alongside the motor on some photos, near to th fixing lug beneath the brushes. Could this be an adaptor?

Please ignore above. The lug isn't threaded. It just felt as though it was. Theres a captive part held to the plastic drum with two philips screws.

Work in progress.

The missing screw is probably an M5x50mm, the lug on the motor has an internal thread. ie no nut needed (in theory) It seems that these work loose, leaving the motor to vibrate tus cracking the adjustment bracket.

I'm just about to fit bracket no.2 after almost 2yrs.

I had intended to check the tightness of the M5 screw, but didn't.

Even though I used a spring washer the thing obviously worked free.
