Mend Briggs & Stratton 8hp Engine Small Air

Leaking Gas?

I have a 8hp B&S engine, My gas cap has a small air hole on it and it is leaking out of this hole.Is it suppose to have a hole so it can it get air?........Thank-you Dave

Leaking gas tank what are some good ways to fix it

As far as I know there is supposed to be a hole or vent of some kind to prevent a vacuum forming in the tank as the fuel is used up. Otherwise the engine gets starved of fuel.
