how to fix my mountfield clutch cable?

Hi, 1st of all where did it snap? I just had a spring on the clutch cable underneath break. I separated 2 coils of the spring, and use 10-30 clip nut; to clip to the coil, installed a 10-30 screw with lock washer, I got a 'S' hook and bent it 90 degrees; which former a hook for the broken end of the spring. I screwed it all together . it works like a charm.

Logically you would contact a Mountfield dealer or is that too obvious.
