door not opening on hotpoint dw51 washing machine?

1) Unplug from electric
2) Remove top (held by screws at rear)
3) Find long spring which normally links door latch to
door release button
4) If still linked to door latch, pull up to unlatch door
5) If no longer linked, thread hooked end of spring into
door latch and pull up as step 4
