suzuki gsx600f 1999?

the cdi unit on my 1999 suzuki gsx 600f has blown i am looking for a used/salvage one but does it have to be from a gsx600f or will a bandit cdi work? do the serial numbers have to be the same?

The part numbers for the bandit and your bike are totally different, so the two units will be different the timing might differ slightly so the bike wont run. if it was me i would only stick to the correct item.
Try ebay for another 1, or look in MotorCycle News(MCN) there are companies who sell pattern items. when i had the same problem with a 1991 GSX600F i got a Vance & Hines race ignition fitted worked a treat. but i dont think V&H do one for a 1999 GSX600F.
