I know that the problem is not your wires. Look behind the tower into the fan vent and plug the tower in and hook up the one s-video looking audio cable. your fan doesnt come on does it. Its overheating when you turn your volume above- say... 37-40+, am I right. The THERMOSTAT type component isnt engaging and telling the fan to come on. The fans 12v, and the only source in the tower for the 12v isnt working because its run through the thermostat as a control module. I had this problem, dont listen regarding wires. The tick you will hear as the unit turns off is a relay turning off because the systems protecting itself from the heat. The problem is the heat, the obsticle is the thermostat not turning on the fan. The solution is not a fuse, not a wire, only a componet thermostat. This burned out my fan as well. Upgrade to a 120v fan and wire it directly to the board so it runs constantly, it'll be a stronger fan and you wont need to replace the thermostat component. If you wish to replace the component and the fan good luck finding the component. Fans are easy.
