washing machine, wont wash or dry, bang and burning smell?

servis easi logic 1000 3 years old..
when i was washing some clothes a smell of burning came from the back and a bang, the display lights work and i can select modes but it doest spin or start any modes,

found problem, the circuit board is melted, we had a power cut, could it of been a power surge when the power went back on that melted the board ..
