how to stop gas from getting????????

I have a 10 hp. briggs & stratton, on a generator. my problem is getting gas into the oil? the float looks to be in good shape. it is only 3yr old. could the float and needle valve be bad?????

Possibly. Gas it sat for any length of time? Probably as simple as dirt on the float needle valve. Remove & clean. When you remove the float, check that it's not holed. If it's full of fuel, there's your problem!
