2000 auto 2.3 zetec galaxy gearbox fault?

stuck in 3rd gear even in semi mode engine manegment light came on same time is it still ok to drive it for a 1000 milesor will it overload engine thanks

Ford Vehicles, Cars Auto Galaxy Gearbox

Hi drive it for a 1000 miles it would,nt make it that far.
It,s in limp mode,get you home mode.
Designed to do a few miles only.
Drive it for too long in this default condition and it will totally burn the gearbox out,resulting in a need of a full overhaul.
The car needs to have the codes read and go from there.
