How can I fix my dishwasher?

I put washing up liquid in it, creating a large amount of foam. It now no longer works - in other words it won't even start.

Hi Gwyneth, not good.You may have flooded the lower base with foam.This trips the flood switch and will not let water in to start a programme.See if you can access the lower base and see if there is water there.Switch off the power,drain with a sponge and try a restart.It may workbut there are too many variables to guess. All the best.
